Highlights:  Technical • Marketing

Dear Members,

The past month has been busy with lots of meetings including a face-to-face meeting with Nick Champion, the South Australian Building Minister, where the implementation of NCC2022 Energy was discussed. We were able to show case the preparedness of the industry for 7 star.

I was also invited to be part of the Building Ministers’ Meeting Industry Dialogue meeting. This meeting was attended by almost all the State and Federal Building Ministers as well as a select number of representatives from industry. The meeting provided opportunities to discuss the future workstreams of the National Construction Code as well as the opportunities and challenges our buildings and our building products will need to address in the coming decade. While there was lots of discussion on these issues there was general acceptance that the rate of change in the built environment was likely to increase and, to support this, greater alignment across jurisdictions and clear time frames are needed.

This last month also saw us run our first series of state round tables, these meeting provided an effective avenue to ask the AGWA Team questions and make suggestions on the issues effecting your business. The success of these has encouraged us to repeat the format into next year and so  I look forward to this becoming an important part of interaction between members and our team.
