CODE OF CONDUCT

AGWA Members shall abide by the following Code of Conduct.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Provide products, services and workmanship of a high standard that comply with or exceed the minimum performance requirements of the NCC (National Construction Code) and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Continue to develop professional knowledge and technical skills and encourage the development and preservation of industry skills in others.
  • Undertake only activities that they are competent to perform and, when in doubt, obtain appropriate advice and assistance that will allow these activities to be competently carried out.
  • State qualifications, experience and prior responsibilities accurately.

PUBLIC RESPONSIBILITY

  • Provide access for customers to a complaint handling procedure.
  • Ensure that actions and general conduct help to maintain the prestige of glass, glazing and window related activities.
  • Provide the community with information that will assist it in formulating policies and making decisions on matters affecting glass, glazing and window related activities.
  • Ensure that all advice and directions provided give full and proper awareness of glass, glazing and window requirements.
  • Comply with Australian Consumer Law and State requirements for dealing with consumers.

BEHAVIOUR

  • Maintain a high standard of integrity and apply honesty and fair dealing in all aspects of their operations with employees, contractors, suppliers, competitors and customers.
  • Comply with relevant business practice laws of the Commonwealth and State/Territory.
  • Carry out their professional duties with care and diligence.
  • Conduct themselves in a manner which is neither derogatory to their colleagues, nor likely to lessen the confidence of the public in glass, glazing and window related activities or the Code of Conduct.

COMMUNITY & ENVIRONMENTAL

  • Seek opportunities to be of service to their community in matters relating to the glass, glazing and window industry and provide local sponsorship to develop a positive community profile.
  • Ensure all processes are monitored to show due regard to the environment and, wherever possible, look to implement practices that encourage sustainability and maintain pollution below legal limits.
  • Ensure work practices consider the health and wellbeing of their staff, customers and the general public to increase satisfaction and staff retention.
  • Respect and not claim ownership of private knowledge (intellectual property) of individuals.

SAFETY

  • Provide a safe working environment for all employees and visitors.
  • Comply with all relevant Workplace Health and Safety legislation.

MANAGEMENT OF THE CODE

AUDITING

  • This Code is not intended to be audited. However, serious breaches of the Code can lead to the triggering of an investigation by the Australian Glass and Window Association and possible disciplinary action.

DISCLAIMERS

  • All statutory requirements take priority over any conflict with the Code of Conduct.
  • The Code of Conduct is not intended to be a complete guide for the safe conduct of activities.
  • No warranty will be made by the Australian Glass and Window Association as to the accuracy and reliability of opinions or recommendations provided.
  • The Australian Glass and Window Association takes no responsibility, as far as the law permits, for any direct or indirect loss suffered by any organisation as a result of how the Code of Conduct is managed.
