A Guide to Glass & Glazing

A Handbook to AS 1288

Version 3. Published October 2017.

This Guide has been written to provide guidance for architects, building designers, engineers, fabricators, glaziers and associated industry professionals on the proper use and application of glass in the building and construction industry.

Written to replace the withdrawn Standards Australia Handbook (HB) 125, this is a much more expansive edition, reflecting the breadth of information necessary to comply with the National Construction Code and the sophisticated solutions to meet today’s market and includes the newly engineered glass thickness selection tables for wind ratings aligned with current loading standards.

While this handbook includes references to a number of Australian Standards and the National Construction Code, it is not, nor is it intended to be, a definitive prescription of the regulatory framework. This handbook provides guidance for the most common applications of glass and glazing and serves as an overview of current industry practice. The correct and proper assessment of glazing requirements requires a thorough understanding and application of the relevant provisions.

This Guide is available as a free PDF for AGWA members only.
