Dear Members,
As we gather with loved ones during this festive season, I extend warm wishes to each of you for a joyous and Merry Christmas and, no doubt, a well earn break.
As I reflect on the past year, I am immensely proud of the AGWA team and their collective efforts across our training, technical, events, policy and advocacy activities. It is also appropriate to specially recognise the return of AusFenEx which has set a bar-raising new standard for our industry’s premiere event.
To put everyone into a festive mood and to steal some of Santa’s thunder, I am pleased to announce that after a long period of negotiation we have successfully secured a member discount with Standards Australia of 10% for any AGWA member purchasing a Glass and Glazing Small Business Standards Pack starting 1st of January.
Looking ahead, we have lots to do - including ongoing work to shepherd the final stages of the NCC2022 and to mould NCC2025, as well has harnessing the great work the team has been doing to improve licensing outcomes for our industry. 2024 is looking like the year (touch wood) when we secure a new, more stringent Glazing licence in NSW. As the year closes the licencing framework looks to apply to all building work over $3,000 and it is our hope it will set a benchmark to emulate across the other states and jurisdictions.
As this year closes, I would like to express my gratitude to my team and the AGWA board for their ongoing support. No less importantly we couldn’t continue to work for our industry without your engagement and membership of our growing association.
While I’m sure December will be crazy as always please stay safe and enjoy the coming holidays.
