COVID Isolation Requirements Lifted from Friday

Published 21 April 2022

Some welcome news for us all this afternoon.  State Governments in NSW and Victoria have announced they will scrap the close contact isolation requirements on Friday at 11.59pm in Victoria and 6pm in NSW.

This means that from Saturday, if someone in your household tests positive to COVID you no longer have to isolate for 7 days.  If you have no symptoms and return a negative RAT test you do not have to isolate and can continue to work. Of course people who contract Covid will still need to isolate for a week while they recover.

The main changes are as follows:

  • Household contacts of a positive case will need to carry out five rapid antigen tests over the course of the seven days that they previously would have been in isolation.
  • Close contacts will need to wear a mask indoors when outside their home and take a rapid test before seeing people not in their household.

I’m sure this is welcome news for many of you.  I hope it will provide some relief towards the significant staffing shortages our industry is experiencing at present. I have attached the media links for todays announcements below.
